Only a few guys remember competitions of Zlatá udice in Jihlava. Maybe someone remembers the time when this competition was organized every year as part of young fishers preparation. Even some Jihlava fishing boys and girls were representing South Moravia district that the time it was a part of Czech Angling Union. In results of 1980 National round of Zlatá udice we can find the biggest Jihlava start - Martin Musil fishing and casting for South Moravia and helping the team reach silver medal in teams. One year later he even got individual silver there.
Last year South Moravia participated the National round of Zlatá udice was in 1990. Then South Moravia district separated and renamed to Moravian Angling Union. Then it stopped the supporting Zlatá udice inside the union. Until 2007. That year young fishers trainer of Znojmo, Pavel Zahradník, helped a lot to make a deal between Czech and Moravian Angling Unions. So since 2008 Moravian Angling Union participates the National round of Zlatá udice regularly. Last guy from Jihlava was Kristýna Koblihová, reaching individual silver medal in 2019 and helping the team reach team bronze medal.
The last National round of Zlatá udice was prepared in 2021. Moravian Angling Union won the team competition. It reached bronze medal in juniors and it reached gold, silver and also bronze medal in boys category.
For participation at National round of Zlatá udice Moravian fishers fight at district round prepared for end of May every year. Before the district round there are also some regional rounds. This year Jihlava member of Moravian Angling Union decided to make this competition. Unfortunately the time for introduction was short and almost nobody from closed members did hear about the competition. That is probably why only one member answered the invitation. And so only 12 fishing boys and girls of Jihlava and Třešť met each other at south side of Pávov lake.
Zlatá udice consists of three separated competitions. During LRU (fishing) part fisher proves he/she can prepare hook, cast to water, catch a fish, get it outside the water and remove the hook of its mouth. Mostly fisher proves it during two 120 minutes long rounds. During RT (casting) part fisher proves he/she can cast for accuracy and distance. During the last part - RZ (know-how) fisher proves he/she knows something about fish and can recognize several kinds of them.
On Sunday 15th of May young fishers came to fight in the first part of Zlatá udice - fishing. Although district rules allows only floating fishing, we allowed floating, ledgering and feeder fishing. Although district rules determines winner by weight of all fish, we determined winner by count of all fish caught.
Boys and Girls were drawing lots of fishing places for both round. All places were close together, only first and last sector were a little bit far from others. Preparation was not necessary to be long so team leaders decided to short the preparation time. At 9:00 everything started.
Some boys tried boilies hoping some carp would be caught but mostly worms were used for fishing. Honza from Třešť had the best fishing technique. Sitting at the last sector he caught 13 breams and 4 other white fish (roach and rudd). Vojta of Jihlava was very close to Honza's results. Vojta got 13 breams and 8 another fish. The best catch was tench about 30cm long.
During 120 minutes of first round all fisher caught 85 fish including 53 breams.
After the first round a small break came. All children got some meal with vegetables and something to drink.
Second round was started at 12:15.
For second round Vojta of Jihlava got the same sector that Honza of Třešť had during first round. Vojta caught there another 24 breams and 7 white fish. Honza got sector with shadow so he decided to try feeder and later moved back to float fishing.
Big fights were among Jihlava fishers that were close each to other and were fishing a lot of fish. But again only the breams, roaches and rudds.
Finally even the second round ended. That round fishers caught 132 fish, including 72 bream.
And so first part of regional round of Zlatá udice was finished. Each winner of his/her category won a cup with fish Moravian Angling Union has in its emblem. And the first 3 fishers got medal. Each trainer and every fisher got sweet hedgehog gingerbread as Jihlava has hedgehog in its emblem.
Now competitors are waiting for the last two parts of Zlatá udice.
