Jan Bombera became the legend of Czech casting in a while. Only a few people from Czechia gained what Jan did after their careers. He participated his first world championship in 2012, he was on 12th place. 4 year later he became the first Czech caster winning pentathlon, octathlon and all-round at one world championship.

For his casting career as a member of national team he gained 19 medals (7th place in Czechia).

He got 7 golds (6th place in Czechia), including 6 titles of world champion titles in multithlons.

Best events were multithlons, especially heptathlon and all-round.

His average medal count for 1 participation is 2.38 that puts him to 3rd place in Czech casting history.

There are fishing hunters that beside of fishing like also just casting for accuracy or for distance. Thanks to this hobby a group of casting freaks comes to land of grass and casts in various events to now who is the best caster. The best ones take their equipment's and move to world championships and represent Czech Angling Union against best world casters there.

Even this year we can meet a caster on competitions. A caster that especially during 2016-2019 defeated almost whole world. The caster is named Jan Bombera.

Nature

A native of Litovel was great fan of fishing just like a small boy and attended to local fishing club for children. He was also trying the competition called Zlatá udice. Thanks to this competition he met casting. Sometimes he hit the target, sometimes he made a long cast. Then his trainer Pavel Kulhánek met Ivoš Jedlička, a caster from Opava city. This showed the casting to Litovel in all its beauty. And Jan started casting.

Jan even as a young boy had one attribute - he is an incredible hard worker. For real he started with casting training at 16 years and only 2 years were enough to be comparable with casters that had 10 years training experience. After one year of hard training Jan did cast 100 points, after two years of hard training there were only two competition that Jan did not cast at least one 100 points event.

But it was too late for being a member of youth national team, Jan became adult and had not too much time for casting. But 8 years more he was casting as a member of 2nd league team of Litovel. Then the team decided that the time of team end came. Jan Bombera started with soccer, sometimes he went fishing and said good bye to casting...

until 2009. That year Jiří Šula had an unexpected call. It was Jan Bombera asking about possibility cast again. No problem for Jiří, he even took Jan Bombera for next casting competition of South Moravia district. We all were able to see Jan was still remembering the casting.

The passion came back. And Jan started hard working again. We was recording videos of best Czech casters casting, he was comparing his technique with other on videos, he was visiting Karel Světelský and was training with him. Jan used even every free time at work for accuracy casting. Two years were enough for Jan becoming a national team member.

Nature

On the first world championship Jan looked like phantom. Czech caster that wanted to be a friend to everyone? Czech caster sharing all his experiences and secrets with everyone who he talked to? That was uncommon...

With his friendly and positive nature he did enthrall other world team members so much that they had no problem to share their secrets with him. Till that time nobody was sharing anything with Czech guys. They even borrowed their equipment to Jan to try different materials, they disassembled their reels to show him the tuning, they gave Jan tips no one knew in Czechia before.

Nature

Jan Bombera collected information that helped him to reach materials unknown in Czech republic until that moment. He learned the tuning and thanks to his know how many Czech caster were able to win events and multithlons that Czech casters new won before.

Nature

But Jan did not only let other caster win. After first checking the atmosphere of world championship in 2012 he trained much harder and in 2013 he became a caster with results no Czech men reached before.

For example no Czech man was able to cast 100 point in multiplier accuracy event. Jan did cast it as first Czech man when he participated his second world championship.

At the third world championship he did cast it again and as first Czech man he did it in final. Only slower time placed him to 2nd position.

Nature

Especially multiplier events had been disaster for Czech team every time. For twenty years of all round no Czech caster could reach gold in this multithlon.

But in 2014 Jan Bombera did incredible hard work that helped his team member to become first Czech all-round winner. And thanks to him the same team member won it again next year.

Aaaand - the next year 2016 Jan won it by himself. But not only this. Jan became first Czech man and second world man that won pentathlon, heptathlon and all-round on one world championship. Finally he brought 4 individual medals.

An year later in 2017 he gained 4 medals including the all-round gold. And two next years we gained 5 medals at each world championships.

Nature

Only one Czech caster was able to gain 4 individual medals 4 year in a row. Jan Bombera did it too. What more - he gained 5 individual medals for 2 years in a row. No Czech caster gained at least 5 medals for at least 2 year in a row. For last 4 years Jan won 7 world champ titles, he gained another 7 silver and 4 bronze medals. Plus he helped the national teams to win another world champ titles.

But yet, Jan remained modest and helpful to others. And he never forgot his the most favorite hobby from childhood - when he was asked after winning the world championship what he would plan for next years, he just said - "I am looking forward to fishing".
