After light casting at league competitions the first really important competitions came. Three spring competitions of Czech cup defines the nomination of casters that shall participate world championships of youth and adults. This year there shall be new cadet categories up to 23 year at world championships so something new is coming. For nomination of youth and cadets there is a complex points system, for nomination of adults only pentathlon and heptathlon ranking count.
First competition was placed to Krušné hory, about 5 kilometers close to Germany border, at Meziboří town. It was not the first time of hosting cup in this place. Very experienced casters being there several times took a lot of waterproof clothes with them. But this year the good weather condition was promised. And yes - for first time many casters were sunburned. But this was not a problem of organizers.
We started with targets events - Fly skish, Spinning arenberg and Spinning skish. First two casters of each start had mild wind to back so no big deal with handling it. Then the wind went crazy. A while it flew from right, a while later from left, a while later from front. Was not easy to handle such wind. Same problem during distance events, some casters were lucky, some casters had bad conditions. From middle of court the wind went different way that it went at the starts.
But competitions was running fluently and without any complication.
Vojta could not train for three weeks. Ankle problems first time, sickness for second time, ... so almost no training. During training everything looked fine but when started nervousness came and training missing was visible. Bad Fly skish then quite good arenberg then bad Spinning skish. Complication with wind at fly distance but at least one cast got over 40 meters. This was similar to spinning distance, cast over 60 meters but not good enough comparing to the other casters.
What was bad at pentathlon, that was good in heptathlon. Vojta had great cast ad salmon distance and as only 13-years old boy he had third best casts in boys-18 years category. In 18g distance he had his new personal record as well as in salmon so perfect end of competition.
Adam was dreaming about casting over 400 points in pentathlon so he was still thinking about average 80 points per event knowing that if any point more then it will be useful at events where he could loose the points. And Adam started well - only one missed target at Fly skish 15 points above the plan. Then problem with arenberg but not loosing too much. Then big concentration at spinning skish and good result. Adam had 9 points above plan after target events. Fly distance was not good because of the wind but Adam lost only 4 points of plan.
We knew Adam would have to cast 50 meters to reach 400 points. And after three competition we can say this event is his technically best event. Thanks to his technique and last competitions he was not nervous as he knew he had no problem with this event. And yes - first cast flew to the center of court. And over 59 meters! So dream came true. For first time Adam reached the 400 points in pentathlon in his 11 years. He won his boys-15 years category too.
Well, Zuzana casted in women category. Started great, with 20 points loss at targets event she did lead. Then a small complication at fly distance, she lost points and got to 2nd place loosing 0.8 point to leader. But during second round of spinning distance she made perfect technique and she became the only lady casting over 70 meters. That moved her to first place and so Zuzana won.
Only Karel was the one of Jihlava casters able to cast in men category. After two events he was 12th. And he missed once at spinning skish so finally 10th after target events. But he was very lucky during fly distance, he got the most points and moved to fifth place. And he had also good cast at spinning distance and moved to third place in pentathlon.
At salmon and 18g distance Karel was not good enough. Sixth best salmon and fifth best 18g distances moved Karel one position lower so he placed 4th position in heptathlon.
Well, team result was quite good. Boys got their first points to nomination table, Adam is tenth and Vojta is on 13th position. Zuzana is second in ladies and Karel is third in men.
Two cups remain. Let's see how the raking will change then.
